Last night I tried to use my Amazon Kindle 2 for the first time in a week or two, but once I left the matter in which I hold, I found a new screen with the dreaded title in bold: Battery critical.

None of the buttons worked and the screen said I needed to load for several minutes before using it. How the Kindle comes only with a charger from the United States and I'm in the UK, I have been conducted using my iPhone-to-USB to chargebedside. But because the iPhone requires the presence of regular care, I charge every night, and have neglected the Kindle, but I just read a tree "several deaths" books. So I tried to put the Kindle in office for 15 minutes, but it made no difference. Cessation of service at night, I went back to read the paperback version of the great Ernest Hemingway's A Farewell to Arms.

The first thing this morning I discovered that the light had been accused by some timethe night (it is supposed to go from orange to green when charging when fully charged). I did some research online and found several ways to make life, but none of them worked. One recommendation was to connect a USB connector on the real computer, and when I did this mode, the USB drive came immediately. A few minutes later, the screen flashed a couple of times, I gave a few more minutes, unplugged, and then follow the instructions for a complete reset: hold down the power switchfor 15 seconds and release, then immediately hold down the Home button for 15 seconds. Fixo Presto!

Since then I read on because I had terrible battery life, as the Kindle is off. (Manuals, pfft!) Slip and release the power switch is the only unit in the standby mode, and it will still connect via 3G to periodically download the updated signature page sites, bookmarks, etc.

To turn off (because it consumes energy), withalways on the device you need to drag and hold the power button until the screen goes dark.

Everything I read indicates that will maximize battery life when not in use. Unless you're one of those people who have subscriptions to newspapers or have many devices you synchronize regularly between, who needs to ensure synchronization when you sleep? He will in any case, once back next time and will last approximately 15seconds.

Another trick to maximize battery life while using the device is off the menu (wireless> Turn Off Wireless). You can always turn on periodically to synchronize. This will give you a couple of weeks of battery life when used with other battery-saving settings (small print to minimize page turning, do not use the Kindle Store on your device, etc.).

I love my Kindle and 2, while not perfect, is another step towards an interesting futurefor publication.
